Golden Age Broadway

The theme of this show is songs by people who wrote musicals. Not songs from the musicals they wrote but other songs they recorded for radio play or touring.

Please submit a self tape of you singing a cut of a song between 1-2 minutes long. A verse and chorus works, a bridge and chorus works. Something you feel shows your strengths and that you enjoy performing. Please select a song written by an artist on this list, or someone else who has contributed to writing for a musical:

Please use a karaoke track that you like, we will be using tracks for this concert as many of the arrangements will not be piano driven.

Audition Submissions are due by October 4th!

This concert is a celebration of Golden Age musical theatre.

Casting for:

  • Soprano 1 — Ingenue, clarity, pure tone

  • Soprano 2 — Richer, legit style

  • Soprano 3 — Crossover soprano/mixy belter

  • Mezzo 1 — Belter, youthful sound

  • Mezzo 2 — Belter, mature sound

  • Tenor 1 — Rich tenor/bari-tenor (this role is for a Black man)

  • Tenor 2 — High tenor, strong A4

  • Baritone — Rich true baritone

If auditioning in person please bring sheet music for a cut of a Golden Age song between 1-2 minutes long. Something you feel shows your range/strengths and that you enjoy performing. Be prepared to also do some range testing.

If unavailable for in person auditions, please submit a self tape of you singing a cut of a Golden Age song between 1-2 minutes long. Something you feel shows your range/strengths and that you enjoy performing. Please also submit a video of you doing a 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 vocalize on a legit style eee [i] vowel from the low-ish part of your range to the top of your range in a second video.

The setlist of the concert will be predetermined, with eight singers singing an average of three numbers give or take.
